NATIONAL ESSAY WRITING COMPETITON
FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN

 

A National Level Essay Competition for school children of class IX to XII is being held as part of Foundation Day Celebrations of ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. Children desirous of participating shall submit their compositions, duly certified through their respective Schools, so as to reach the Council by 15th June 2007, on the following topic:


“Global Climatic Changes and Its Effect on Agriculture” (“Vishva Jal-vayu Mein Parivartan Aur Krishi Par Uska Prabhav”)


There shall be one First Prize of Rs 10,000/= and 1 Second Prize of Rs 5,000/= in each language category with a citation certificate, i.e. a total of 4 prizes. The 4 prize winners shall be informed by post and the winners will be invited to receive their prizes on 16th July 2007, during the ICAR Foundation Day Celebrations at NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. TA limited to AC III tier / sleeper / chair car (subject to submission of photocopies of railway / bus tickets) and free boarding and lodging to the winner and one accompanying adult, in the NASC Guest House, Pusa, New Delhi, from 15th – 17th July 2007 shall be provided. Winners from Delhi shall not be eligible for TA and free boarding / lodging. The winning entries shall be displayed in the ICAR website also.

 

 

Eligibility and Rules

  • Entry is open to all Indian students in classes IX - XII

  • Essays must be of approximately 1500 words.

  • Submissions must be neatly handwritten in double space, on one side of white lined 8.5” x11” paper (A-4 size).

  • First page must only show the title of the essay, student’s name, class, name of school with school address and phone number, and Principal’s name.

 

 

 

  • Title of the essay should be repeated at the top of the second page above the essay.

  • Criteria of contest shall be scope of research, accuracy, creativity, conciseness, spelling, grammar, organization, logical development of topic and original critical / creative thinking.

  • All entries shall become the property of ICAR. No entries will be returned.
    One entry will be accepted per student. There are no limits on entries per school.

  • All Entries should be hand written, in English / Hindi and be the original work of the student, certified by the Principal of the school.

  • Entries by e-mail will be accepted, provided the same are certified by the Principal of the concerned school. With e-mail, they should send scanned attachment of the hand-written article and the Principal’s certificate.

  • Entries may now reach the ICAR by 21st June 2007. Entries must be sent by registered / speed post, and clearly super scribed with the words: “ENTRY FOR ESSAY COMPETITON’ on the envelope.

  • Entries not conforming to the above shall be rejected, and no communication will be entertained on the matter.

  • Children whose parents are in ICAR service will not be eligible for the competition.
